about

"Invocation Nocturne", 2015, Jonathan Oberlander

"Invocation Nocturne", 2015, Jonathan Oberlander

"Incovation Nocturne" is an acousmatic piece inspired by two poets separated of almost two millennia : Baudelaire and Ovid, respectively known for their practice of romantic and didactic poetry. Five variations on the theme of sensual love, invoked in spirit in the shadow of intimacy. The composition articulates around sequences of frictions which reveal the harmonics of the "sonic body" on which they play.

The body feels desired, seduced, thrilled and swings into longing and suffering. The sensations spin and fade into the night air.

"The best builder of the soul is the one who breaks
Once for all the painful chains that hold back the heart. "
[Ovid, Remedia amoris , v . 293-294]

"Invocation Nocturne" was composed at my personal studio in Bagnolet during March and April 2015. Sounds were recorded at CRR de Paris in February 2015.
